Oscar Donneys was born in the small town of Palmira, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, where his fascination with light and shadows began at an early age. Armed with a toy camera, he captured the simplest moments of his surroundings: the interplay of light on rooftops and the character-filled faces of his neighbors.

As he grew older, his passion for photography intensified. He moved to a big city, where he discovered a world of creative possibilities. He experimented with different styles and techniques, ranging from street photography to emotive portraits and dreamlike landscapes.

Oscar’s work is characterized by his sensitivity and ability to find beauty in the everyday. His photographs convey a sense of nostalgia and melancholy, often criticized for their darkness, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in somber yet powerful worlds that confront them with the grim reality of life.

He often uses natural light as his primary tool.

Throughout his career, Oscar has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world. His work has been recognized by specialized critics and has received several awards and distinctions in major photography contests.

Oscar’s influences are diverse, ranging from great photography masters like Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson to Impressionist and Surrealist painters. His works often explore themes such as identity, memory, nature, and the passage of time.

In addition to his role as a photographer, Oscar is a strong advocate for art and culture, but above all, he is committed to environmental protection, driven by his deep misanthropy.
